Indiana Jones and the Unpaid Muse
If you have more than a passing apprehension for Frank Frazetta you might notice that most of all of his women, as far as I can tell, have a particular “look”. In fact, if you look closely you might notice his women have more than passing resemblance to his wife Ellie. (I remember reading some confirmation this from a respected blog of which I can’t remember. Maybe, lines and colors?)
Its not an uncommon practice for those closest to an artist inevitably, perhaps even unwittingly, to sign on as models. The foremost the spouse. Now, many artists’ relationships with their models, mistresses, and marital partners are–shall we say–rather convoluted and overlapping, so I’ll conveniently skip over complication, thankyouverymuch. Suffice to say, my lovely wife has become my unpaid muse.
One great, satisfying aspect to my artistic endeavors and overly media-saturated humor is I’ve the privilege to place family and friends in ridiculous situation based on pop culture touchstones.
